Do not let what you can’t do stop you from doing what you can do. The problem a lot of people have is they feel if they can’t start at the finish then they may as well not even start. But that is completely faulty, short term thinking. Just because you’re not able to run a marathon right now doesn’t mean that you aren’t able to run a mile. Just because you don’t have a million dollars in the bank doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t try to save $100 on your next paycheck. Don’t worry about the end, and just start where you currently are and then go from there.
If you’re 50 pounds overweight don’t think about losing all of the fat at once. It’s only going to depress you. It’s only going to discourage you from even starting. Just focus on losing the first couple of pounds and go from there. If your goal is to save $25,000 this year and you’re starting from zero, focus on saving the first $100 and go from there. Build the habit of exercising and eating less. Build the habit of saving money. Don’t concentrate so much on the end goal that seems so far away; instead, concentrate on the daily habits that will get you where you want to get to if you stay consistent with it. Set up a SYSTEM for accomplishment, then focus on whatever daily requirements the system requires, and you relax. If you do the right thing every day, if you do the right things consistently and constantly, you WILL reach your goal eventually. It’s simply a matter of time. ALWAYS keep this in mind.
