Give credit where credit is due. Once you hit a level of success — any level of success — you need to recognize and appreciate the people who help put you into that position. You didn’t do it on your own. You weren’t the only one putting in the work. Other people helped you out. Other people showed you the ropes. Other people taught you things. Other people gave you hope when you didn’t have hope to give yourself.
Obviously you are the biggest contributor to your success, and therefore you just do the most work, but at the end of the day you have to be appreciative of the external forces that help your goals get accomplished. Send an email saying thank you to that friend that encouraged you when you were down eight months ago. Send some flowers to that teacher they taught you how to budget when you were messing up with the money. Make a phone call to your friend who let you sleep on their couch when you had no money and were spending your nights hustling. Success is a team sport, not an individual one. Never forget that.
